Medical Privacy Curtains are an essential part of providing your clients with their right to Privacy & Dignity. In fact the RACGP (Royal Australian College of General Practitioners) recommends the use of a gown or a blanket AND a Privacy Curtain.

Medical Privacy Curtains – FAQ
Are there different fabrics to choose from?
Absolutely. Whilst the range is nowhere near as extensive as for window curtains, good choices of pattern and colour are available (& they don’t have to look like something Grandma used to have). Often people are surprised at how much choice there is and find that they fit nicely into modern interiors too.
Will my Privacy Curtain have joins?
Maybe. It will depend on the fabric selected and the height your track is installed. If joins are required they are professionally sewn, over-locked and very neat – and you probably won’t even notice them! Fabrics for Privacy Curtains are manufactured in a wider width than a regular curtain fabric, therefore in most instances the number of joins would be only one or two.
Privacy Curtain Mesh – do I need it?
Privacy Curtain Mesh is used for a few reasons:-
1. To make the Privacy Curtain longer – this may save on fabric.
2. Having ‘openness’ at the top of the Curtain may prevent the client feeling ‘shut in’ when the curtains are around
3. Most importantly in the case of Fire – the Privacy Curtain will not stop the fan type spray of water from the fire sprinklers.
Will my Privacy Curtains be lined?
Privacy Curtains for Bed Screening are always un-lined. Lined curtains add to the cost, provide no additional privacy, are heavier to install or re-hang, are often not fire retardant and may not be washable.
Are there special fabrics for Bed Screening?
Yes. When installing anything into a public building it is important that Building regulations are adhered to – this includes the Fire Retardant Properties of the Bed Screen Fabrics being used to manufacture the curtains. We will only show you fabrics that are compliant.
Is there an alternative?
Often used by Hospitals, we also offer Disposable Privacy Curtains for your bed screening needs. Each individual curtain is thrown away at the end of its life, rather than being laundered.
